Jesus, more than a king
But is Jesus more than this? Is Jesus more than a good teacher, prophet and King? Did Jesus claim to be God? If he did then nothing after this point can be the same again.
C. S. Lewis, the writer of the Narnia Books and Oxford Professor, wrote:
"A man who was merely a man and said the sort of things Jesus said would not be a great moral teacher. He would either be a lunatic - on the level with the man who says he is a poached egg - or else he would be the devil of hell. You must make your choice. Either this man was, and is, the son of God: or else a mad man or something worse." - Mere Christianity.
What we will explore in this session
- Did Jesus claim to be God?
- was Jesus mad?
- What did the early Christians think about Jesus?
- What difference does this all make?
Did Jesus claim to be God (on to next page)?
